Pumpkins fly and zucchinis zoom.... at the annual Burlington Pumpkin Pitch & Harvest Festival.

Pack up the family and head to Skagit River Park in Burlington, Washington the last Saturday in September. See pumpkins hurl through the air launched by contraptions that look like they're straight out of the middle ages.

Kid Zone is packed with activities for all ages. All free all day. Zucchini car races, pony rides, pumpkin painting, climbing wall, bouncy houses. Sign up for a pie eating challenge.

It's good old fashioned fun -- with a squish-splat-smash! -- in Skagit Valley. Even the wagon carriage rides to and from the parking lot are free.

No cost and tons of fun.
